Amodeo has operated seven different restaurants on the beach over the past 26 years, including The Margarita Cafe and The Drunken Taco. His longest-standing establishment, The Oasis Cafe, has been around since 1993 at the southern entryway to the beach south of Las Olas Boulevard. The idea moving forward was to "appeal to people on all different levels," Amodeo said, like starting outdoor dining that found a receptive audience both with European vacationers and local visitors enjoying a day at the beach. "I like to feel that I was part of the changeover," said Amodeo, who is also a one-time chairman of the city's beach redevelopment board. "I was able to get involved, like molding clay."
